The School Day

A warning bell goes off at 8:35am for registration.

Students are in school for 31 hours 40 minutes per week.

Attendance Matters

Students should aim for an attendance of at least 98% per year. This means no more than 8 absences (4 days). If your child is unwell and is unable to attend school you should phone our absence line on 01384 818465 before 09:15 on each day of the absence and leave a message. If the absence is likely to be prolonged we do ask that you provide a doctors note. On return to school you should write a note addressed to your child’s tutor explaining the absence. We have a system of first day calling/texting which means you may be contacted at home or work if your child has not registered and we have not received a call from you.

Many absences are classed as authorised (medical appointments, genuine illness etc). In some cases the school will not authorise absences. Holidays in school time should be avoided and will not be authorised. For unavoidable, known absences a leave of absence form must be completed and returned with at least four weeks notice. Condoned absence by a parent is a serious matter and details will be reported to the Local Authority.
